Finding Koala Fight
People find content online in so many different ways online and it’s always interesting to get another bit of info about that process. YouTube now offers some basic metrics for the videos you post. I have a video called “Koala Fight” that I posted nearly 2 years ago that has over 65,000 views (not quite viral, but well beyond my own social network) so I investigated where these hits came from.

Most hits come from “related videos.” I wasn’t expecting this, but it makes sense. I suppose a number of people surf through animal/koala videos using the related feature. I wouldn’t be surprised if getting a lot of traffic from related videos were common for videos of a similar traffic level.
I’m a big fan of sites sharing this kind of info with people who contribute content, not just to market content more effectively, but to make content contribution online more symmetric. More on that later.
