Research Project

This is Step 2 of the research project “Understanding Information Gathering Online and in Context” where you review your browsing history data.

To continue the study, view the Chrome Extension.

Installing the extension does not obligate you to participate in the study.

If you install the extension, review your information, and complete the survey provided after completing the steps in the extension you will be eligible for the $2 gift card per the terms of the study.

If you decide to participate in the additional data collection described in the extension you will be eligible for additional compensation as described in the extension.

If you have cleared your browser history very recently, you may not be eligible to participate.

This research is being done by Dr. Ericka Menchen-Trevino at American University, Washington D.C. with Institutional Review Board approval number IRB-2018-235, in collaboration with researchers at the University of Michigan and the University of California at Davis.

This is a fully open-source extension so that anyone can verify that it does exactly what it says it is doing. If you want to check out the source code, it is available on GitHub.

If you are not using the desktop/laptop Chrome web browser you will not be able to install the extension. If you are able to use the Chrome web browser on your desktop or laptop, you can open this page in that browser to continue the study.
